How does this work?

As State Licensed Agents to the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles, we identify, and direct your vehicle licensing, registration or title transaction by preparing and organizing the necessary documents for submittal and processing your transaction with the State.

How long does this take?

What does DMV Easy need from me to get it done NOW?

Do I need a Emissions Test/ SMOG certificate?

Passenger cars, trucks, RVs and motor homes need an emissions test if they are:

  • Gasoline powered (regardless of weight or size)
  • Diesel powered with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating up to and including 14,000 pounds, this applies to all initial registrations and renewals regardless of any expiration date.
  • 1968 model year or newer 
    (new vehicles on their first and second registration are exempted; a test is required upon a vehicle's third registration)

Nevada Emissions tests are valid for 90 days.
You must have a valid test to complete any original registration or renewal if the vehicle requires a test as listed above. This includes reinstatement of a suspended registration.

Nevada requires used car dealers to issue a valid emissions test, when required, on any vehicle they sell. In private transactions, the test is the buyer's responsibility.

As noted above; Diesel vehicles up to 14,000 pounds require testing as of July 1, 2009. This applies to all initial registrations and renewals regardless of any expiration date.

Is the seller or buyer responsible to provide the smog certification?

In Nevada, used car dealers are required to issue a valid emissions test, when required, on any vehicle they sell.In private transactions, the test is the buyer's responsibility.

Nevada Smog certificates are valid for 90 days.

I just moved here from another state. How soon do I need to register my car? …and can you help me?

To avoid inconvenience, violations and penalties, it’s very important that you start the registration process within 30 days from the date that your vehicle enters Nevada.

New Nevada residents must obtain their driver license within 30 days. You must register your vehicles at the same time or within 60 days, whichever is sooner. The fine for failing to register your vehicle is $1,000.

Out of state insurance is not accepted. You must obtain insurance from a Nevada-licensed carrier. If you are moving from another state, you must notify your agent or insurance company that you have moved to Nevada. Or, purchase a new policy here. Nevada insurance is necessary to comply with Nevada LIVE Insurance Validation.

How long do I have to transfer ownership of a vehicle that was just purchased?

If you bought a vehicle with a Nevada title, The buyer must register the vehicle within 30 days. You must have the following documents to register and title the vehicle:

  • Title, or a security agreement from a financial institution
  • Nevada Evidence of Insurance Card
  • Nevada Emission Vehicle Inspection Report if required
  • Vehicle Identification Number Inspection if the vehicle has never been registered or titled in Nevada
  • Application for Vehicle Registration (VP-222)

If you bought a vehicle from a Nevada Dealer, the vehicle must be registered before the expiration date on the temporary placard regardless of when the DRS (Dealers Report of Sale) was issued. You must have the following:

  • Dealers Report of Sale
  • Nevada Evidence of Insurance Card
  • Emissions Vehicle Inspection Report if needed
  • Application for Vehicle Registration (VP-222)

If you bought a vehicle with a title from another state, you must register the vehicle before the expiration date of any movement permit issued or 30 days maximum. Please bring all documents provided by the dealer. You must have:

  • Invoice or Bill of Sale, and one (1) of the following:
    Title
    Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin
    Security Agreement
    Lease Agreement
    Purchase Order
  • Nevada Evidence of Insurance Card
  • Nevada Emissions Vehicle Inspection Report if needed
  • VIN Inspection
  • Application for Vehicle Registration (VP-222)

How much will my registration cost?

The 2009 Nevada Legislature passed Senate Bill 429. This slows the depreciation rate motor vehicles are assessed for Basic and Supplemental Governmental Services Taxes. Depending on the age of your vehicle, the slowed depreciation rate may mean an increase in the Governmental Services Taxes.

Where do I get a VIN inspection?

If the vehicle has never been registered or titled in Nevada, you must have a VIN inspection performed at a “drive-through” DMV Inspection Station located outside of the main building at most DMV locations, or you may also have a law enforcement officer complete the Vehicle Inspection Certificate (VP-015).

How much do you charge?
